Armed robber holds up ice cream shop, shoots employee

An armed robber held up an ice cream store and shot and wounded an employee Wednesday afternoon.

The robber entered the Dairy Queen at 664 E. Redlands Blvd. shortly before 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, armed with a handgun. The robber forced employees to open the cash register and took cash. He then forced the employees to the back of the store where he shot a female employee in the leg before fleeing through a back door into the parking lot. Redlands Paramedics treated the woman who was transported to a local hospital.

The robber is described as a black male in his 30s, between 6 feet 2, and 6 feet 4 inches tall, 200 pounds. He was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt, black pants, gloves and a bandana over his face. He escaped on foot. No vehicle was seen.

Investigators believe the robber is the same man who held up Shear Perfection beauty salon, at 430 E. State St., on March 14 and Stell Coffee & Tea, at 1580 Barton Road, on March 7.
