Fontana armed robbery suspects tied to Redlands holdup

Two men arrested Saturday morning following an armed robbery in Fontana are believed to be responsible for the armed robbery of a Redlands restaurant last week as well as several other robberies in surrounding communities. Fontana Police arrested David Richard McKinney, 20, and Jonathan Burnside, 27, both of Highland, at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, following an armed robbery and vehicle pursuit in Fontana.

Investigators have also tied the two men to similar robberies in Highland and San Bernardino. Shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, two armed men entered the Mediterranean Grill at 802 W. Colton Ave. and demanded money from an employee at the cash register. The suspects left in a silver SUV with a luggage rack on top.

Redlands investigators say the suspects and vehicle from the Fontana arrest match video taken from the Redlands restaurant and surrounding businesses at the time of the robbery. The suspects are being held at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on numerous charges including the Redlands robbery.
